Cover Reveal! The Stranger: New Horror Anthology From Corbeau Media

Hey guys! I have some exciting news. My publishing company, Corbeau Media, is putting out a horror anthology for Halloween and I'm going to be in it along with some of my favorite authors. My story is different from what you've come to expect from me. It's contemporary horror set in a nursing home in Minnesota. It is a *little* romantic, can take the author out of romance, but you can't take romance out of the author (or something)? Here's a little preview: Bear River Bzzzzzt.  Weheheheheheheh. Bzzzzzt. Weheheheheheheh. Bzzzzzzzzz Cassie dropped her forehead against the fluorescent blue face of the pop machine as the bill reader rejected her crumpled dollar for the fifth time. It was 4:55 a.m. and though the beige break room was bright enough to read an X-ray, she needed her second Mountain Dew to trick her brain into thinking her hours were natural. The soft buzz pulsating above her eyebrows was almost comforting, a little harmless

Murder on the Moors: A Short Story by Lawrence Hogue

The events of this tale take place in 1792. They form the backstory for one of the main characters in Lawrence Hogue’s new novel, Daring and Decorum, which takes place four years later. James Cosgrove, Constable for Kisdon Parish, approached Aysgarth Manor with a heavy step, despite the promise of warmth inside. But now, here he was, with little idea what he might find inside the ancient manor’s stone walls. The place was bleak enough, occupying a high moorland with even taller fells rising behind, like brows beetling over a brooding face. The house itself was an ancient stone pile, with slits for windows gazing vacantly across the heath, now white with a cover of snow. There were few signs of life from within; the “castle,” such a

Artemis: My New LGBT Gothic Regency Romance is Out Today!

Hey guys! Today is the official release day of my first Regency novella, Artemis . Artemis originally appeared in The Bluestocking Belles' anthology, Holly and Hopeful Hearts , so you may have already read it. If not, check it out! It's a little different from the rest of my series -- the hero is trans, it's set it in 1812, and the love scenes are strictly closed-door -- BUT it's super romantic and it's still so gothic it starts to burn in direct sunlight. The hero, Apollo, is a descendant of Nick and Sally and Meg and Jake. ( How? You'd better read it, huh?) I am particularly happy with the way it turned out, and I hope you enjoy it, too. Thanks for reading! Artemis by Jessica Cale Gothic Regency Romance 20,000 words/PG-13 Content warnings: Contains transgender and bisexual characters falling in love, getting married, and enjoying themselves.
